Task

To create a website for holding 80 LEVEL AWARDS 2018 as part of which users will choose the best works in several nominations.

Solution

CGI (computer-generated imagery, or «computer — generated images») are images that are made with the use of computer graphics. Most often we refer to 3D images and 3D animation. CGI is used to create video games and special effects in movies.

Designers who create such images and animations are called CGI designers. This is a huge community across the United States, Europe, Asia and Russia. Annually LEVEL 80 holds a competition aimed at selecting and rewarding the most talented professionals in the industry.

We assisted 80 LEVEL to organize a competition that has attracted new advertisers and has become a notable event in the gaming community.

The mechanics of the contest are simple. The award ceremony was held in 5 nominations: Materials, Environment Art, Props/Weapons, Character Art, VFX. The voting participants could choose only one work in each category. The work that had received the higher number of votes became the winner.

When analysing contests within other fields, we have encountered the following peculiarity. Nominees tend to share links to their contest entries on social media. Their subscribers click on the links, vote for them and rarely have a look at the works of other nominees.

We assumed that our contest will possess the similar mechanics of distribution. However, we wanted as many people as possible to vote in all the nominations. And, we have implemented gamification. Our virtual character has accompanied the visitor throughout the path. He encouraged and promoted to continue and go all the way. As a result, 72% of users have voted in all 5 nominations.

2000 visitors, hundreds of enthusiastic comments in social networks, 5 winners. We consider it to be an excellent result.
